How’s it going, friend?
I want to tell you a story about my business that I’m sure you can relate with. A few years back, I had so many ideas for what I wanted to do in my business. I wanted to have a retail store, I was going to Christmas Decorating for people and hire a bunch of employees. When each of these ideas hit, I thought they were going to be the BEST idea. I could see it already coming together, how I’d make more money and was thinking to myself: Why haven’t I thought of this before?!
You know when you’re thinking of a new idea and all that excitement you feel? Then what happens?
We start to put that idea into place and we run into an obstacle, a challenge—and our brain tells us all the reasons why this is now a terrible idea.
That, my friend, is an obstacle thought.
We’ve all been there. I’ve been there! For me, whenever I started to put one of the big new ideas into place for my business, it all seemed brilliant at the time—until I hit an obstacle. Then, everything in my mind turned into a trainwreck—and I had to learn how to deal with these obstacle thoughts in order to move forward on my goals, even if I had totally new ideas on where to take my business.
Because obstacle thoughts are not avoidable. Our brain does not always have our back.
When we try something new, our mind is going to tell us all the reasons why it won’t work.
Here’s the good news: Even if we can’t avoid obstacle thoughts, we can still plan for them.
