Are you a people pleaser? I know I was FOR YEARS. Being raised as a good Southern girl, I was taught to make people happy, not to disappoint and to be super accommodating. But that doesn’t work so much in business…or really in life, either!
As I started to explore my own people pleasing behavior, I realized it was often the easy way out. It was much easier to stuff down what I really wanted and try to please others. However, I learned that by doing that, I’m not going to see the results I was after!
I had to stop taking responsibility for everyone else’s emotions—and just take responsibility for my own. And when I do that, it allows everyone else to take care of their own feelings too.
Eventually, I saw that people pleasing is simply a waste of time. The only way people can make themselves happy is with their own thoughts.
Have you ever experienced this before? Maybe you do everything right to please your clients and they’re still not always happy? No matter how hard you try, sometimes people aren’t going to love everything you do. And that’s what you gotta learn to be okay with!
