I used to be that woman chasing achievements like there was a prize at the end of the tunnel for who could be the most “put together” or “successful.” Spoiler: there isn’t. So now? Now, I’m chasing something else: joy. I’m embracing who I am, boldly living out loud, and letting my politics, my personality, and my passions shine through in every part of my life—even in business.

Two years ago when I turned 50, something clicked. There’s this beautiful freedom that comes with not caring about what people think anymore. You get to this point where you realize you’ve earned the right to live exactly how you want, without apologizing for any part of it. Whether it’s my progressive politics, my bold style, or my no-BS approach to life, I’m done holding back. Funny that a lot of you already thought I was living as my full, uninhibited self, but there were still plenty places I was hiding. But now that I’m in my 50’s, I’ve decided I’m going to show up fully in every space I enter, whether that’s in my personal life, my business, or just in how I move through the world.
Let’s talk about business for a second. I used to think that you couldn’t mix politics or personal beliefs with your work. You were supposed to keep it buttoned up, neutral, and never rock the boat. But guess what? F*ck that. I’m done pretending that who I am and what I believe don’t matter in the spaces where I live and work.
Fairley Fancy: Three Generations of Bold Women
I’m running Fairley Fancy—our home decor and clothing boutique—with two of the most important women in my life: my 76-year-old mom and my 19-year-old daughter. And let me tell you, being in business with these two powerhouses has made me realize something: this is what living fully looks like. We’re three generations of women, each unapologetically bold in our own ways, each bringing our unique flavor to the table, and we’re making waves in business together.
This isn’t just about selling clothes or home decor—it’s about giving women the courage to be seen. To wear bold colors, take risks with their style, and decorate their homes like the true sanctuaries they deserve. It’s about living life in full color—not just beige because that’s what everyone else is doing.
Joy Over Achievements, Every Time
The old me was addicted to the hustle. I had a checklist of achievements I thought I needed to hit to be “enough.” But this new version of me? She’s not about that life anymore. Now, it’s all about joy. About making sure that every single day, I’m doing something that lights me up—whether that’s working with my family, needlepointing, dancing, or just spending time with my people. It’s not about being the most accomplished or checking off some arbitrary list of “successes.” Been there, done that and was left unfulfilled. Now it’s about living, and living fully.
I’m not chasing titles or recognition anymore. I’m chasing the things that make me feel alive. And I’m here to tell you, you can too. Because no one gets to the end of their life and says, “I wish I’d hustled more.” But they do say, “I wish I’d spent more time doing what I love.” I’m not going to be one of those people with regrets, and will you?

You’ve got one life, and it’s too short to spend apologizing for who you are. You don’t need to tone it down. You don’t need to make yourself smaller to fit into someone else’s idea of “appropriate.” You’ve got dreams, talents, opinions—and guess what? The world needs to see all of them.
