Maybe you’ve noticed from listening to my podcast and reading my recent emails that I’m in a particularly rebellious stage of my life.
Oprah said that when you turn 60, “You take no shit. None. Not a bit.” (As if we needed one more reason to love her, right?)
Maybe I’m ahead of the curve, but having just celebrated my 50th, I am feeling this Take No Shit lifestyle deep in my soul.
And yet as creatives, you and I sure take a lot of it.
- We take it from our clients when they demand unrealistic timelines and give us laughable budgets
- We take it from society, who perpetuates and almost glorifies the “starving artist” ideology and claims that “you can’t make money as a creative”
- We take it from the “gurus” who should all over us and claim to have the “secret bullet” to success
- Worst of all, we take it from ourselves by believing our own headtrash and depriving ourselves of joy in the name of success
Let’s make a deal right here right now:
As creatives, as womxn, as business owners, let’s not wait until our 50s or 60s to stop taking shit.
Instead, let’s demand better of the world starting right now by refusing to go along with their rules and instead writing our own.
Inside DesignYou, there’s a Breakfast Club of badass creatives who have said “Yes” to disrupting the creative industry by carving out their own path to success.
We’d love to have you join us too.
I will not be your guru (only YOU can be your guru). But my team and I will be your guide, your coach, your mentor, and your biggest cheerleader while giving you access to ALL of the knowledge, resources, tools and templates in our toolbelt.
As DesignYou member Roxanne Lumme said, “It is clear that you do not intend to hold anything back from us at DesignYou.”
Damn straight.
My team and I are open books, ready and willing to give you whatever you need to succeed on your terms.
