My Dreams for 2013

Posted by

It’s that time again…time to put my dreams out in the blogosphere. And as you know if you read my resolutions post, deciding what I want for 2013 has been tough for me. Just the fact that it has been tough for me has been even tougher for me.

I am not one to struggle over defining the “what” even if I don’t quite know the how! So there has been a bit of suffering and pain this year while I figure out what I truly want moving forward. It hasn’t been easy. But it’s been worth it.

You see, I am used to knowing exactly what I want and going after it. But this year is different. Partly because so many things that have been on my goals list I have accomplished and many things on my dreams list have come true. But also because finding what I really want out of life, it has meant venturing back outside my comfort zone in a big way.

Another reason for the difficulty in dreaming this year is that I have finally found my true purpose in life: to serve others by helping them create inspired lives, inspired businesses and inspired design. So what used to be important to me just isn’t that important any more. The rules have changes and so have my desires.

My motto for 2013 is to Collect Moments, not Things.

But I think it is still authentic for me to dream about things that I want. I just want to get rid of some of the things I have to make room for the new ones. Simplify. Eliminate. Downsize. These are all words near and dear to my heart this year.

I am definitely in a quality over quantity phase of my life. And of the “things” that I dream of having, it is more about the moments I will create with them that makes me want them the most.

If you followed my Dreams post for 2012, you know that I believe in putting it all out in the Universe so that what I want will find me. Yes, I am a law of attraction sort of girl.

So on that note, here is what I dream of for 2013…

A weekend cottage to relax and nurture those I love.

To rent a house on the beach for an entire month this summer and work from there with my family in tow.

Travel to Europe with friends not once but twice this year.

Begin planning my dream house in Arkansas so I can build it next year. So much of what I want it to be has changed and my main objective is to support “Inspired Living” for my family and me.

To realize my goal of working only with clients who share the same life philosophy as me so that my work is the best it has ever been and serves my clients like never before. On my dream client list? My favorite gurus like Tony Robbins, Jack Canfield, Oprah Winfrey and all those great thinkers and motivational speakers that have influenced me so much.

To spend 2 weekends at a resort spa with my mom doing yoga and eating healthy to replenish our bodies and souls.

To have my own TV show that brings together my design expertise and my spiritual and motivational beliefs to impact the lives of many.

To improve the life of at least 1 person in need for each design camper by making a charity donation for each person who attends a camp Tobi Fairley event this year.

To attend Tony Robbins’ Date with Destiny event with my dad.

To spend Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday, in my favorite city (New York) with all my family in tow.

As you can see, these dreams fall right in line with my 5 resolutions of inspired living, inspired travel, inspired design, inspired business and inspired giving. I think I have finally figured out what really matters to me…being inspired and inspiring others.

And speaking of inspired…I hope you have been inspired to write down your own dreams this year so you can make them a reality. What do you want to do in life? And what’s keeping you from doing them? Why don’t you start today making them a reality?

Life is short. Today is the day to start living your dreams. Don’t wait.

And don’t dream too small! Reach for the stars because you just might catch them!!

If you want an excuse to hold yourself accountable, leave me a comment and tell me just what those dreams are. I’d love to help you make them all come true this year.

Happy Dreaming!

ach.. wonderful dreams! good to think and dream but that’s not enough, unfortunately ๐Ÿ™‚ It requires much more effort! ๐Ÿ™‚ I do also have quite few dreams but the one is to enlarge business, actually it is more what I am seeking to be visible to others, gain more fans, followers… We are too small for big crowds, which I realised not long ago. That’s is quite sad but… nobody is allowed give up! Need to stand out and follow your own dreams. Just wanted to share with you. Thanx! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I dream of winning a ticket to Tobi Camp. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Dear Tobi,
I guess we are all the “Dreamgirls” today! Loved your post. One of my dreams is to attend your Design camp A-Z with my sweet neice. We have been trying to downsize for the last ten years and finally did it. Smaller home and bigger life! My Neice is buying her first home and wants me to help her with decorating. I mentioned your design camp and she is so excited. Our schedules have yet to come together but we are going to make it a commitment this year.

I just wanted you to know how much I enjoy your blog. I have long admired your design work, but you truly have a gift in writing as well. Thank you for opening up all parts of your life and sharing it with us. You words motivate and inspire me each day, not only in design, but life as well. There is a word that I believe describes you well…lifegiver! You breathe life into others with your work and words.
Thanks again for sharing your goals and dreams with us!

  5. 1. To speak and write words that edify, encourage, empower and transform the lives of God’s daughters. 2. To sit at God’s feet to watch, listen and learn for as long as possible every day. 3. To go back to seminary to soak in His Word. 4. To teach what God is teaching me. 5. To finally buy and live in a Craftsman bungalow decorated with furnishings from Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Arhaus, Target, Pier 1 and designers I admire. 6. To dance again (ballet and ballroom) for the joy of movement. 7. To be debt free, have financial margin and flexibility. 8. To embrace and be who I am and am becoming. 9. To create beauty for myself and others to enjoy.
May this all be a reflection of God and my He be delighted in all of this.
