A Month of Love

Posted by

Well here we are at the end of January already. Boy did that month fly by, right?

I hope your year is off to just as great of a start as mine is! I can tell BIG things are going to happen this year for me thanks to my new “inspired” approach to life.

And, since I am taking everything UP a notch this year, I will do the same for my annual February Month of Love.

As you already know if you follow me all the time, I am a daily reader of Mastin Kipp’s The Daily Love blog. I get his shot of inspiration delivered to my inbox each morning to start my day off on the right foot.

Many of you have said my blog does the same for you each morning. And so in an effort not to lose this inspiration for the month of February (since Inspired IS my word of the Year), this year’s Month of Love will combine a favorite product or thing WITH one of my favorite quotes and a mini life lesson for you.

So think of it like Tobi’s Month of Love with the volume turned ALL the way UP!

The excitement begins tomorrow, so meet me back here. It’s going to be a FABULOUS February full of love and fun!

Design is in the Details! Design Time on KATV

Posted by

First thing this morning, I headed over to the KATV studio to share some tips on how to include design details that will give your space a polished, picture-perfect look!

My favorite recent example from my own work is the InBox Interiors foyer we did for Southern Living recently!

The details of a design are critical anytime you want to make a room feel customized and unique. Interiors are one instance in which you DO need to “sweat the small stuff” because the small stuff can have a HUGE impact!

Consider these design details and then try to imagine the project without them. You’ll find it pretty impossible; they are ESSENTIAL!

Happy Birthday, Oprah!

Posted by

Today is the birthday of one of my favorite people in the world…OPRAH!!! I know many of you idolize her like I do and with good reason. She is one smart, savvy, wise, spiritual, driven, business-minded, inspirational, visionary woman. Whew! She’s been busy.

I love the fact that our birthdays are just 2 days apart. We Aquarians have to stick together! And it makes me think that in some ways, I am like her. I assure you, nothing would make me happier than that.

In honor of Oprah, here are a few of my very favorite quotes ever spoken all by Oprah herself…

And just like me, Oprah’s favorite color is GREEN! Swoon…we are so alike it’s scary. :) So Oprah, since you are probably reading this, here are a few things green just for you…

I knew 2013 was going to be “My Year” since Patone picked the 2013 color of the year as Emerald. 2013 MUST  be Oprah’s Year too! Tonight I’ll be drinking a toast to Oprah in gratitude for all I have learned from her career, her leadership, and her life.

To Oprah…Cheers!

Life Practice, not Life Perfect

Posted by

Hi, Everyone! It’s a Monday, right? Well I hope your Monday is off to a great start, but isn’t it interesting how we often associate bad days with Monday?

I am sure it’s because things tend to to pile-up over the weekend as your clients, friends and family are thinking of all the things they need from you. Monday morning every one of them is Johnny-on-the-Spot with such requests.

This can feel overwhelming, I know. But I am here to give you a bit of a mental shift that may just change the way you look at your days.

I was just telling you yesterday how I get SO much wisdom from my Yoga teacher, Stacey. Well, another really wise thing she says and says often during each yoga class is “Don’t beat yourself up if you can’t do a pose the way you think you should be able to…This is yoga PRACTICE not yoga PERFECT.”

And she also says it is “our” practice so we get to make it happen any way we want to. If she says to do Downward-facing Dog and we would rather stay in Child’s Pose, then by all means we should stay in Child’s Pose. We get to decide! She gives us permission and we should give ourselves permission, too.

So I was thinking that changing the way we look at our lives from “life PERFECT” to “life PRACTICE” might just be the thing that helps us realize that things aren’t always going to go as planned and to consider that maybe they’re not supposed to. Yes, there may be a lot of people who need something from us, but we get to decide what that looks like and when we meet those needs, right? This is “OUR” practice. We are in control, and we are in-tune with our intuition.

I don’t know about you but this is a mental shift that I think might just change my life…again. So thanks to Stacey for the wisdom.

Here’s wishing you the strength to practice life any way you like! You have permission.

Happy Practicing and Happy Monday!
