Happy Day after Thanksgiving! I hope your holiday, like mine, was filled with many blessings. Today I am bringing you a second look at the Chancellor Hotel project in Fayetteville, Arkansas that I am so happy to have been a part and definitely one of the blessings I am counting this year! I happen to be staying at the Chancellor as we speak preparing to go to the Arkansas vs. LSU football game today. Go Hogs!
I hope you enjoyed your tour of The Chancellor Suite on Wednesday and today, let’s take a look at something a bit more collegiate.
The Old Main Suite at the Chancellor Hotel in Fayetteville, Arkansas is inspired by Old Main, a historic and gorgeous architectural landmark on the University of Arkansas and the oldest building on the campus. Old Main, built between 1873-1875, is the grand dame of the U of A and it’s bell towers are recognizable by all University Alumni.
So using this iconic Arkansas architecture as the inspiration for this suite makes such a connection with all those who will stay in the hotel either from our state or that are alumni of our great university.
And how could I begin to design The Old Main Suite without giving a nod to the traditional University of Arkansas color…Red?
So yes, you will see “Razorback Red” all over this suite, but I was going for a mix of sophistication and varsity style here with handsome checks, plaids, and textures. Using velvet and suede in the space to result in a warm and cozy retreat for Razorback fans on game weekends, alumni visiting throughout the year for special University events, or just guest in general visiting Northwest Arkansas was my goal. There are a multitude of great shopping options, craft fairs, farmers markets, theater events, a visit to the not-to-be-missed Crystal Bridges Museum, and other highlights happening in the Fayetteville area, the gorgeous and quaint part of Arkansas nestled in the Ozark Mountains. So if you visit here, please consider the chancellor as your home base!
Note more amazing artwork and photography by Arkansans Kyle Floyd and Dale Benefield in the Old Main Suite, plus another appearance from some of my Tobi Fairley Home textiles.
If you are coming to Northwest Arkansas anytime soon, please plan to stay in the Chancellor Hotel. The entire property is something to see and I invite you to ask for a tour of my suites. If they are not in use, the friendly chancellor staff would love to give you a peek! Or better yet, rent one of them for a luxurious weekend get-away.
Hope you enjoyed another tour of my work! Xo, Tobi
P.S. Don’t miss dining in Union Kitchen +Drinks in the Chancellor. I literally just finished my Thanksgiving dinner there and it was FANTASTIC! Another home run from my friend and restaurateur Scott Bowman owner of Theo’s, this casual but chic restaurant brings you a mix of the sophisticated and the southern. Tonight for Turkey Day I had a bite of possibly the best pumpkin pie EVER! And my salmon with brussels sprouts was pretty spectacular. Definitely dine in Union Kitchen! I promise, your taste buds will thank you!
