I am thrilled to be included in a great feature in Southern Living Magazine’s September issue with some other amazing Southern designers like Phoebe Howard, Charles Faudree, and Tammy Connor.
Southern Living highlighted my thoughts on the confident use of color by Southern women in their wardrobes and their homes but here’s the complete quote I sent them on What makes a room Southern to me…
“Southern rooms are like Southern ladies. They are feminine and nurturing.
They are warm and inviting. Southern women aren’t afraid to have color in
their wardrobe and a Southern room isn’t afraid to have color on the walls.
Colors that bring to mind our landscape and our heritage are such a fit with
our perfect combination of the old and the new. Yet they add a bit of modern
and current to the mix, as a southern lady may act old fashioned but she is
never out of the know or behind the times.
It’s a Southern room’s deliberate use of color whether on the walls, in a
gorgeous traditional textile, on an pillow (antique or new), or even on a
refurbished old chest painted the brightest shade of mint green that makes
the space charming, welcoming and a place where you want to sit a spell and
have a glass of tea.”
