Boy do I have something exciting for you today!! House Beautiful Magazine has asked me to be part of something SO exciting and I can’t wait another minute to tell you about it. It’s all going down out here in LA where I happen to be for a few days.

You see, in celebration of the March 2013 “Color Combinations” issue, House Beautiful magazine is going to Hollywood to launch its tribute to the most classic color combination of all with an exciting live-meets-virtual happening called “Beautiful in Black & White.”And that’s where they will be hosting their 4th annual Chair Scavenger Hunt!

So in celebration of all things classic Hollywood, House Beautiful editor in chief Newell Turner will launch the “Beautiful in Black & White” program in LA on March 6, when the House Beautiful team will begin secretly placing 20 fabulous black and white chairs in iconic locations around the city—all for the taking. So sad I will be leaving the day before and won’t get to see LA all a buzz with chairs!

Still with or without me, LA streets will be dotted with lovely two-toned chairs provided by top brands such as American Leather, Crate & Barrel, Grace Home, Hickory Chair, Kravet, La-Z-Boy, Room & Board, Target and more.

And, today I’m giving you a tip (shhhhh!) about one of the gorgeous chairs that will soon be found…somewhere…in LA! This is so much fun!

This chic chair (pictured above) is the Duke of Devonshire Chair by Grace Home! Can you picture it somewhere in your home?

In keeping with the classic Hollywood theme, this chair really makes me think of the Nick & Nora flicks from the 1930s, especially The Thin Man (1934). I first heard of the Thin Man Movies from my movie-buff friend, Scot Meacham Wood (@ScotMeachamWood), who is always offering great tips on old movies and reminding me that lots of great style happened before color film!

In these quirky comedies, starring William Powell and Myrna Loy as a married team of detectives, always joined by Asta, their precious pooch, you get a great combination of glamor, laughs, puppy love, and cocktail hour! What’s not to LOVE?!
