Announcing Exciting Design Camp Incentives!!!

Posted by

Well you knew I would offer something fab, right?

As if Design Camp, with it’s hoards of design how-to’s, hands-on design training by yours truly, and delicious food isn’t fabulous enough, I have 2 special incentives to get the rest of our spots filled up for design camp pronto! Last camp I offered one camper a behind-the-scenes look at a magazine photo shoot when Traditional Home was on location in my house.

I want to offer some equally exciting perks for our two upcoming camps, so here they are…

First, for all of you interested in our one-day, action packed Design Camp on September 18th, anyone who registers before Friday, August 20th will be entered into a special drawing.

Two (that’s right, I said two) lucky campers will be invited guests for a special dinner party at my home on Friday Night, September 17th.  I am photographing and videotaping an entertaining segment for our new blog and website and two of you will get to be part of this exciting event!!!

We will enjoy a delicious 4 course meal, lovely wines and gorgeous decor and you will get to have your debut in one of my new video segments on the all-new Tobi Fairley Website and Blog. You will even get a fabulous party favor for being one of my special guests! And you can see first-hand, my fun and colorful home that was recently photographed for an upcoming issue of Traditional Home Magazine.

Now for those of you who are registering for our Fall 6-week Design Camp that will be each tuesday evening from 6-8:30 pm beginning October 12th, I have a special incentive for you too!  Get registered before September 1st and you will be entered to win a free ticket to an exciting event at my home on Wednesday evening, October 27th.  I am hosting a cocktail party to benefit the Fine Arts Club of the Arkansas Arts Center with Special Guest Eddie Ross!!!!!!

So hurry up and get your spot for the Fall session before we fill up and get your chance to meet and mingle with the amazing Eddie Ross in my home in October.  Of course I will be going all out with the food and decor for this event too. With Eddie being the master entertainer that he is, I can’t let my party miss the mark!

Both of these fabulous events will be covered on the brand new Tobi Fairley blog and website launching this Fall.

So come on campers, fill the rest of our Design Camp spots today for a chance to attend one or both of these fabulous events in my home.  Both camps are filling up, with Texas in the lead with the most registrants for the September Class. If you are coming from out of town, be sure to let us know.  My favorite hotel is offering special rates and complimentary transportation to and from the airport. Call us at 501-868-9882 or email us at today. If you have already signed up, you will automatically be entered into these drawings too.

Can’t wait to see you in design camp!

Inspiration Board Winners

Posted by

Hey everyone — it’s Amy here! I’m very excited to get to play around on Tobi’s blog this week while she’s in one of my favorite cities ever getting to shop and swim and play and relax. (Jealous? Me? No way!)

Anyway, I know you’re all eager to find out who won our inspiration board contests. I think that learning about how to make inspiration boards was probably one of my favorite parts of Design Camp. (One of the best perks of my job so far has been getting to sit in and listen to all of the great stuff Tobi talks about at Design Camp!) Like the other staffers, I made my own board, and it was a great way to begin organizing my thoughts on my boring guest bedroom I need to revamp. But one of the coolest parts of the inspiration exercise was seeing all the amazing boards the campers put together.

Our campers were inspired by everything from their kids to nature to their favorite vacation spots. The boards were as unique and fun as the campers are. However, one definitely stood out as both a staff and reader favorite. The votes are in, and Nesting by Camper Keith is the big winner!

Keith’s board was a stand-out, both because of the items he chose to include and because of how well he presented everything. The colors he chose were trendy yet comfortable, and he used lots of textures. I wish you could have seen it in person! Keith is the lucky winner of a certificate to Ava Bella Day Spa. (If you’re in Arkansas, we highly recommend Ava Bella, by the way.)

So which staffer created the winning board? NOT ME. Pshaw. But whatever – the winning staff board just so happened to be my favorite, as well as the readers’ favorite. Let’s all say “Cheerio!” to the “English Gentleman” board!

This wonderful board was created by Landon. He’s a total Anglophile, and he has excellent taste in patterns, both of which are evident in his inspirations.

Speaking of patterns, do you notice one with our winners? The men are dominating so far!

And now for the BIG announcement. We asked all of you to submit your own digital inspiration boards. The response was great, and we’ve seen some beautiful inspiration boards. We even got inspired by some of the stuff you sent in! But one board definitely caught our eye. The Tobi Team has voted, and our grand prize winner is Lynlee!

All I can say is WOW! What a beautiful inspiration board, Lynlee. We can tell how much hard work and consideration you put into your board, and for that, you will be rewarded with tuition to one of our weekend Design Camps!

You see, inspiration can come from anywhere. The design process is fun, and creating inspiration boards can be a great playground. Thanks to Tobi for teaching us these great ideas at camp, thanks to the campers for being so awesome, and thanks to the readers for participating, too. If you want to play along with us, please come join us for one of our next Design Camps!

This Week on the Blog: the lovely Amy Bradley-Hole

Hi Friends,

I wanted to give you a preview of what will be happening on my blog this week.

I am off tomorrow morning for a trip to Vegas where I will be speaking at the Las Vegas Market with a few of my design industry friends.  And when I am not speaking (or shopping), I hope to be relaxing by the blue water of the Wynn Las Vegas pool.

While I am away, Amy Bradley-Hole, my amazing new Director of the Tobi Fairley Gallery, and all things related to Tobi Fairley PR will be guest blogging here for me.

She is a talented writer and blogger in her own right and I know you will be in great hands!

So though you may miss me while I am enjoying the view of these adorable cabanas at the Wynn, please give Amy a warm welcome to my blog.  I can assure you it won’t be her last visit!!

Check back here later today when Amy will announce the winners of our Design Camp Inspiration board contest and one lucky person will win a free tuition to an upcoming Tobi Fairley Design Camp.

And speaking of Design Camp, if you haven’t signed up for the Weekend or Fall Sessions then we’d love to hear from you.  So far we have campers calling from Alambama, Colorado and New York for our weekend session and we’d love to add you to the list of campers from all across the U.S.

That’s all from me now, but stay tuned throughout the week as Amy will give you some insight into lots of exciting things happening with me, my design firm and maybe even a little news from the Tobi Fairley Gallery.

See you all next week!

Design Camp is Back!!!!

What an amazing month it has been of Design Camp Classes and FANTASTIC Design Camp guest bloggers! A huge thanks goes out to all who participated including my 26 campers and all the friends who have been so generous with their time to be virtual camp counselors and make this month of “design camping” so much fun!!!!

Because the response to my camp was so overwhelming (we sold out in a week), I’m going to keep it going!

So here’s your chance to get up close and personal with me and learn about all things design.

On Saturday September 18th, I will have a weekend version of my Design Summer Camp. So for all you out-of-towners, or in-towners for that matter, that were wanting to come to camp, we’re giving you a chance.  We will do all 8 hours of the basic camp in a fun-filled day in my gallery and studio.

This one-day intensive course will feature topics like:
• Design 101 – the basics of furniture placement, paints, finishes and more

• Finding Your Inspiration – how to research design blogs, books and magazines and create an inspiration board

• Accessorizing With Style – all about fabrics, soft furnishings and those important finishing touches

• Getting Bang For Your Buck – learn how to decorate without breaking the bank

Price for the Weekend Camp is $500 again and we’ll have good eats and a few treats. We will do a lot of learning and have a lot of fun! Now hurry up and call 501-868-9882 or email today, we have a few spots already filled and space is limited to 25 campers again. If you are coming from out of town, we can answer any questions you have about travel or hotel accomodations.

Then beginning on October 12th, we are going on a Fall camping excursion (back to my gallery and studio of course) with a 6 week in-depth camp.  It will be each tuesday evening through November 16th from 6:00-8:30 pm and will include topics like:

• Design 101 Recap– reviewing the basic principles for creating great design
• Advanced Design Tips – taking your design project to the next level
• Inspiration to Reality – how to sketch, draw and get your creative ideas on paper
• Going Green (And We Don’t Mean the Color) – how to incorporate vintage, antique and eco-friendly finds to create gorgeous décor that’s kind to the earth
• Art Smart – collecting, framing and hanging art to complement your interiors
• Holiday Entertaining With Style – from tabletops to gift wrap, all the details to create truly inspired holiday decor

This course is $750. It’s the same price per session, just 2 weeks longer and will be packed full of informative design tips, DIY projects, homework, contests, yummy food and more. And what you may not know is we have a secret blog that each design camper gets a password to, so in addition to the in-class time, there is a lot of extra communication and information that happens each week between classes.

Want to be a part of this fun, fall design session?  You better hurry! Many of our campers from the Summer camp have already signed up.  This session is also limited to 25 campers so get your seat today! Call us at 501-868-9882 or email to reserve your spot.

I highly recommend you take the basic camp before the Fall session if possible, so you can get up to speed on all my Design 101 tips and topics before we move on to more advanced design skills! But don’t worry if you can’t, Basic Camp is not required before signing up for the Fall session.

Can’t wait to see you in one of my design camps soon! And don’t miss our last Design Summer Camp blog post below from my BFF Molly of Molly’s Paperie.  Happy Camping!

For our Final Design Summer Camp guest post, today we have my BFF Molly from Molly’s Paperie.  I am anxiously awaiting Molly’s new website and other exciting developments that I can bring to you soon, but in the meantime, she’s joining us here on the blog for a little Camp Inspired letter writing. Take it away, Molly…

Forget Times New Roman in point size 12, spell check and grammar suggestions, connecting with friends and family from camp requires licks of envelopes rather than clicks of a mouse! The medium for communicating in true “camplike” fashion is a message from the past: letter writing.

When is the last time you raced to your mailbox because you were excited to receive something personal? My favorite childhood camp memory was receiving letters from my Mom each evening at dinner. I didn’t know it at the time, but she would have to send letters well before I left for camp just to make sure I had a letter on the first day. So, if I were headed back to camp today, here are the few notes I would take with me to make sure that my letter writing was done in high style:

From Dabney Lee: A classic notecard with a modern twist – the note is backed with classic nautical rope with the envelope lined in orange Chevron. Wouldn’t both of these designs make great fabrics?

From Rock Paper Scissor Luxe: A Camelot inspired take on the classic silhouette. I love that it is paired with a contemporary font – another classic with modern twist.

From Mr.Boddington’s Studio: The grand dame of stationery. The vintage monogram uses the number 3 instead of the Roman numeral III and is paired with one of my favorite patterns and color combinations of all time: hexagon with green and navy.

From Wiley Valentine: No one does better envelopes than Wiley Valentine. This envelope is shown in beet with a worldly pattern. It would definitely stand out among the white envelopes full of bills!

In the world on instant justification and communication via email, Facebook and Twitter, shouldn’t we all practice writing more than 140 characters at a time? Go ahead and make someone’s day – send them a personal note to their mailbox instead of their inbox!
