Shopping Guide: Farmhouse Chic Thanksgiving

Posted by

It’s fall y’all, and time to start thinking about setting your Thanksgiving table. I’ve been thinking a lot about a farmhouse chic tablescape in beautiful shades of white, orange, and light blue with pops of copper! This tablescape puts a polished spin on the rustic Thanksgiving décor from the 90’s! Add in a few blue hydrangeas for a centerpiece and you are ready to set your table!

Gift Guide: Moms Who Like to Cook

Mom's Who Like to Cook

What an exciting week! I am moving into my newly renovated home today and this weekend is Mother’s Day. A two-for-one week for me! I don’t know about you, but I am NOT one of those moms that gets mad about getting appliances or functional things for special occasions. In fact, I request them.

With my move-in happening, I cleaned out and donated a lot of my old things and I now need a new toaster and a new food processor – Williams Sonoma, here I come! But maybe for Mother’s Day, I will also get one or two of these pretties for my kitchen to use along with all my beautiful new Thermador appliances that were installed yesterday (eek! I am thrilled!).

And how about that gorgeous soft blue Kitchenaid above? I got a new Emerald Green one (my favorite color) last Mother’s Day and I truly designed my entire new kitchen around it. I can’t wait to set it on my bright and shiny new Dekton countertops today for the first time when I pull it out of the moving box. Watch for that ceremonial moment on Instagram, but I had to show you this beautiful color of icy blue in case it’s the mixer color of your Mother’s Day dreams.

Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there. I hope you get what your heart desires this Mother’s Day, which probably isn’t gifts at all, but time with your babies. Now I’m off to move in so maybe I can be all unpacked and organized before Mother’s Day arrives, and I can take the day off. After this big move, a day off might just be the best gift ever!

Tobi TV: Clean Scene

I love to cook and I love to entertain – but what I’m not as enthusiastic about is cleaning up after a party or a big meal! However, I do have a few solutions that I turn to in my interior designs to help keep the kitchen organized and to make clean up a breeze!

182

For example, as you can see in the photo above, I like to include a lot of storage in the kitchens I design. It helps with organization and it gives you a place to quickly stow clutter when guests drop by!

It’s also a great idea to keep plenty of towels on hand for spills and quick clean up – so I added bars for extra towels in this kitchen.

192

But my best tip for keeping the kitchen super-spotless during parties and cooking sessions is to include two dishwashers in the design – yes, two! One can run while the other hides dirty dishes out of the way until it’s full, making the kitchen look clean at all times!

I love to design open-plan kitchens, so it’s also important to have a quiet dishwasher that won’t disrupt conversations with friends or family. And as Thermador’s brand ambassador, I can tell you that they have one of the quietest on the market. The Star-Sapphire Dishwasher is so quiet it offers a Time Remaining PowerBeam that shines the cycle time remaining on the floor. Otherwise, you might not know it’s even on!

Let’s take a look at this video I recently did in a client’s kitchen that shows you how amazing that Thermador dishwasher really is:

Wow! Can you believe that a dishwasher could complete a cycle in 20 minutes? Now that’s a quick clean up.

So let’s review my tips for designing a kitchen that keeps things neat and tidy:

1. Include lots of storage so your kitchen can always look organized and spotless.

2. Consider little details like extra towel bars to keep cleaning items close at hand.

3. Dual dishwashers are a lifesaver if you like to entertain or if you cook a lot. They make cleaning a breeze!
