Eight All-American Spaces with Clinton Smith

Posted by

Today we’ve got a great group of images reflecting All-American Design from a seasoned pro.  Clinton Smith is a great friend and is Editorial Director of Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles.  From primitive to contemporary, these images illustrate what Americana is all about! – Tobi

Having styled, produced and art directed hundreds of photo shoots over the years, I often return to pure American style as a favorite “look.” Trends come and go, but American style consistently stands the test of time. Here are eight of my favorite all-American rooms we’ve published in Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles over the years.

The late designer Joye Hirsch was known for giving American style a modern, clean verve. The quilt and bench in this mud room proves that country decorating doesn’t have to be cluttered or crowded.

What’s not to love about the retro kitchen at this lake house? Open shelving, an island that can be moved and smart accessories make it as functional as it is fabulous.

At first glance, the primitive style of this cozy kitchen appears to be from a bygone era, but the professional-grade appliances prove it’s 21st century friendly.

Even in a log cabin, real-life country decorating can have an elegant look.

American antiques aren’t all in brown wood. This colorful cabinet is the perfect backdrop for a personal collection.

The Traveling Designer goes to Atlanta plus a look back at Christmas House 2009

Posted by

Today my Traveling Designer holiday post is running over on the At Home in Arkansas blog. If you have a girls’ shopping trip in mind for this holiday season, take a look at my highlights for a wonderful weekend in Atlanta. Then grab your girlfriends and head to this perfectly peachy city for a good time.

And speaking of Christmas in Atlanta, I never got to run all my favorite photos of last year’s Christmas House when I visited with my mom and sister-in-law. So here they are for your enjoyment…

If you love these photos, be sure to go see this year’s Christmas House sponsored by Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles for more design inspiration! It’s 2 chic high-rise apartments in the Mansion at Peachtree and it’s open November 26 through December 12, 2010.
