When I head out on a road trip, there are a few things that I just can’t live without. Here are some of my top must-have’s to make my travel in the car most enjoyable…
1. To avoid junking up at the convenient store, bring along healthy snacks like fresh fruit and raw Almonds. And don’ forget your Pampered Chef orange peeler. 2. It’s hard to find sparkling water sometimes when traveling so I just bring mine along for the ride. 3. One or more of my personalized Land’s End zippered canvas totes are a must. They keep all my belongings organized and at my finger tips. 4. As long as my hubby’s driving, car time is a great time for catching up on my favorite shelter magazines 5. My comfy Tory Burch shades for a necessity for sun control 6. And speaking of sun control, don’t forget sunscreen on your face. Who wants a sunburn on one side from riding in the car all day? Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer keeps you protected and looking great too! 7. The temperature in the car needs to accomodate several people at once, so I always bring along my Andrew Morgan Vitner’s blanket so I don’t get chilly. 8. When your I-pad gets taken over by the kiddo’s, you can still enjoy your favorite book on your trusty Amazon kindle. I don’t travel without mine! 9. And talking about kids, it drives me nuts when their toys, games and snacks make the car look like a war zone. Keep your ride organized with this handy kid’s stuff organizer from Target 10. The holiday weight gain is hard enough to combat from all the home-cooking this time of year. Don’t throw salt on the wound by eating fast food along the way. Pack a lovely lunch in William Sonoma’s wicker picnic basket. It has an insultated bag and thermos to maintain both hot and cold foods on your trip. Plus it has porcelain dinnerware, stainless utensils and hand-blown wine glasses 11. And if you’re not the designated driver, you can enjoy a cool glass of white with your picnic lunch. I recommend Ferrari Carano’s Fume Blanc. With a convenient screw top, it’s easy to access on the go. 12. Prepare several playlist on your iphone for when radio reception isn’t great. And if you decide to tune out the rest of the car and enjoy your tunes alone, Bose ear-buds are comfy and will help with the noise control. 13. If your car mates are mostly asleep and you’ve enjoyed all the conversation with your hubby that you can stand for one day (kidding), a few rounds of Words with Friends might be the perfect entertainment. 14. Your blanket may keep you warm in the car, but what about when you need to stop and stretch your legs a bit? A cable-knit cardigan from America 525 will keep you comfy in cooler temperatures. Layer it over a turtlenceck for added warmth 15. And don’t forget a comfy pair of shoes that accomodate a little exercise at pit stops. I love the Prada scrunch sneaker. It’s like wearing nothing at all when you are driving or riding , but you can still make a few laps around the car to relieve those restless legs.
