Inspired by Marrakech

If you read my Planning for Success in 2012 post, you know that I will be traveling to Marrakech later in the year for the Design Leadership Summit. I am beyond excited about this experience and so grateful to have the opportunity, thanks to Design Investors.

Lately I have been flipping through travel materials and browsing websites to prep for my trip.  All the rich colors and textures of the region have so inspired me! Today, I thought I would share a few pieces that I found on Serena and Lily that I think would be great in a Moroccan-inspired space.

For starters, I love this bold piece of art. The colors are so rich and remind me of the coast.

I also love mixing wooden and caned pieces with the bright, happy colors. These chairs just seem like a natural addition to any Moroccan-style space.

Even though they originated in Bali, I could also see this vintage pair of wedding ceremony chairs fitting with the scheme.

I also love the idea of putting a pop of color underfoot. How great is this herringbone-like rug in a soothing army gray and bright happy fuchsia?

I was so inspired by this African city that I have also created a fabric in my Tobi Fairley Home line that reminds me of the region. Appropriately enough, it’s called Marrakech and comes in a variety of color pairings. Pillows, drapes, an apron for a themed dinner party — I can think of a million ways to use this fabric.

If you aren’t quite ready to go large scale, try some smaller accessories that will give your room the same “well-traveled” look.

This low bowl has such a sweet pattern.

Love this pitcher! How fun would it be for a poolside party?

Finally, I was also drawn to this vase. I could see this working in so many different spaces — a serene bedroom, a fresh entry or even a powder room.

Hope you enjoyed these ideas! If you want to see more Moroccan-inspired ideas, check out this month’s features where you’ll find my dream birthday party design.

Happy Monday!

xoxo
