Gratitude, Lose it and the BIG Before and After Reveal!

Posted by

I know from all the amazing feedback from many of you here on the blog, that you are enjoying following along with me on my journey of gratitude, wellness and self-care, and my “season of change” as I transition towards more of what makes me happy and less of everything else.

If you are just joining me for the first time in a while, you might want to read about “My Oprah Moment”, the “Change that is Coming” in my life and my epiphany of “The Missing Piece” of the puzzle to get you up to speed.

Today I want to continue in my attitude of gratitude but it’s time to take things up a notch. On the scale of discomfort today is really up there. But I feel like to live my true purpose in life, to really inspire you all to be your best, I need to really take the next GIANT leap in my journey publicly with your support. So it is time to put things out there in the Universe completely, right. Yes!?! So here goes…

As I have mentioned a few times lately, my journey towards health and wellness includes big weight loss. Thirty-two and a half pounds as of this morning to be exact that I have lost over the last 18 months. It seemed like a slow process at the time but now that it’s almost over it feels so quick!  I only have about 5 pounds to go to reach my goal.  I am almost there.  I can taste it.

So though I feel like Jennifer Hudson or Valerie Bertonelli on a commercial, here’s the BIG reveal.  My before and after…

YIKES! I can’t tell you how scary it is to put this out for all to see my “Before”. It’s not like it’s a big secret, many of you have known me for a while and have seen me in all stages of weight (and hair color LOL). But there’s just something about showing the before and after there side by side, for all to see, that makes me feel like I was a failure. I remember the daily thoughts of “Why can you be so successful in every other part of your life, but you can’t lose weight and get healthy?”  I now know that it was those very words, that negative self-talk, that was holding me back. And the great news now is that I am happily living the “After” thanks to deciding to practice self-love and self-care before all else!!

And here’s one more “After” with my friend Barbara who has lost 40 pounds herself…wow!

So here is where the gratitude comes in for today…

First, I owe a big part of my success to the Lose It app on my iPhone and iPad (what did we do before mobile devices and apps, right?) Plus it’s Dr. Oz approved. :)

I jump started my weight loss in June of 2011 on the HCG diet (also Dr. Oz approved) and did another round of it this year (also grateful to Dr. Suzanne Yee and her team for guiding me on the diet). Though not the diet for many of you (and I am not endorsing any diet plans here, just saying what worked for me), the HCG diet was instrumental in helping me to kick a long addiction to sugar and carbs.

Another key component of the weight loss as I mentioned above, especially my maintaining the 30-plus pounds, I can attribute to Lose it.  For years I have been against anything that required me to count calories. Just wouldn’t hear of it, really. It was “just too much trouble”. But thanks to the Lose It app, counting calories is super easy and super fun. And it also makes me not miss exercise because I can hardly wait to plug in the exercise “calories” I have burned so I can eat more or lose more!

And I owe a BIG debt of gratitude to my staff for going at the weight loss journey with me. Two of my 5 team members have also recently lost 30 plus pounds and others have started making exercise and healthy eating a priority. It REALLY is easier when you do this with someone and have them to help keep you on track when you really want to quit. I am blessed to have several “someones”!

There are 3 other women who have been a part of my “Getting Healthy” journey and I will be telling you more about them this week. Stay tuned because these are inspiring women and you’ll want to learn what they’ve taught me, so you can use it in your own life.

And speaking of learning…Are you joining me for the Free Telecall this afternoon all about my Mastermind Consulting Program? If you want more details on how I have made the leap to a business and a life I love, all the while adopting a life of health, wellness and self-care in time to start setting your goals for 2013, then don’t miss it.  To get registered for the call go here. It’s at 2:00 Central Time today. And I’ll even give you some free tips on knowing whether you are working for the right clients, which can be key to having a business that is both fulfilling and profitable.

Now one last bit of Gratitude…Thank YOU! Thanks for reading my blog and thanks for letting me show you my “Before” and admitting that I am not perfect. Thanks for being here every day to share in my journey (How many times can I say journey? are we on the Bachelor or American Idol here! LOL) and offer so much love and support. Seriously, it means so much! And believe me, the hard part starts now…maintaining a healthy and happy life. But with people like you cheering me on and inspiring me, I think we can do this together.

With all my heart…xo, Tobi

P.S. Did you see my post earlier today about the COOL contest I am judging for Layla Grayce in conjunction with our sponsor Olioboard? You might just be grateful to them for winning the contest, but you can’t win if you don’t enter. Check it out.

And don’t miss our giveaway with Susabelle…man, the gifts are flowing like crazy around here, all because we are grateful for your loyal readership.  Good luck in both contest and I’ll “see” many of you on my call in a couple of hours.

  4. Tobi, I haven’t visited for a while so I am just learning of your journey. I am so proud of you. I have conquered the “do only what you really love” part but need to join you on the lose weight and get healthy part SO THAT I can continue to do what I love. The will power is just not there. Maybe you can inspire me to get on it!! Have a wonderful week.

Tobi, you are a doll! Thank you for exhibiting courage and transparency in sharing your struggle and your accomplishment. Whatever our struggle, it is always heartening and inspiring to find someone who has struggled and overcome. It gives us hope that we too can overcome our struggles. Mine has always been the battle of the bulge. And at my advanced age, it has become even more difficult. But I know there is still hope. Like you shared regarding your negative self-talk, the area between our ears and our tongue is the most difficult to tame. I had not read your blog in some time due to a busy schedule and projects. And tonight I was “led” to be up at the very moment this post showed up in my Inbox. Very timely moment for me tonight when I felt maybe I should just give up and be happy at my present weight, which is not a healthy weight for me. Why in the world would I settle for less than God’s best for me? Thank you again for being transparent with the world. You have touched me for good, and many more, I am certain.

    Blessings and Gratitude,

    Victoria in Texas

  9. A huge congrats to you . You look fabulous….and I am sure you feel like a million bucks! I have about 20 to lose and have been procrastinating long enough. This was really inspiring and I am definitely going to check out that app. I am one of those that are very black and white…when I decide I want to, I will go all the way…..but with Christmas and Thanksgiving around the corner, i know the timing has to be right too. In any case, thanks for all the information and for sharing……fantastic job!

    Tobi,
Congratulations! Having been keenly aware of my weight since I was 7!! (those gymnastics coaches were very tough), I know how hard it is to battle the weight war. A few years ago, i lost 25lbs and remember how great it felt so i know exactly how you feel now too. I am sincerely so so happy for you!!!!!!
