Fabulous Friday Finds: Retro Kitchen

I guess the saying still rings true…what once was old is now new!

As I mentioned yesterday, last month I was in Chicago to be a keynote speaker at Vision12, the International Window Coverings Expo, which was held in conjunction with the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show. Many of the latest products in kitchen and bath design are showcased at KBIS. There were so many great new trends; however, my eye was drawn to the retro-inspired kitchen products. One of my favorite new products featured at the show was the enameled cast iron sink from Kohler. Nothing says durable and built-to-last like cast iron! Plus, perhaps it’s because I’m from the South, but something about cast iron leads me to thinking of home-cooked meals and slow food and all the trends of days gone by that are reemerging.

Look at this huge assortment of different colors they come in!

I also really like the colorful knobs on this Wolf Gas Range. The large double-oven and griddle would be perfect for cooking for a crowd.

Of course, what could be more vintage than this Retro Refrigerator by The Big Chill?

Decorating with small appliances is also a great way to get the retro look in a kitchen without making a huge time or money investment. I love this green drink mixer from Waring! Doesn’t it remind you of an old soda fountain?? I can taste the milkshakes now.

This red espresso maker from Espressione is another illustration of a way to add a small appliance to the kitchen to get the fun retro look.

What do you think about these retro kitchen applications? Would you update your kitchen with these cool classics?

Let me know what you think!
xo, Tobi

Gees, I’m so old maybe I’ll come back in style, too! I just painted a 1950′s fridg RED (it’s in the boathouse.) And, I think Wolf should have “changeable knobs..sometimes I like red, then maybe green, then maybe blue…how hard is that?!? :) franki

Growing up in Wisconsin, a short one hour drive from the Magnificent Mile and in the opposite direction, a short drive to the beautiful town of Kohler, Wisconsin, your latest posts have me planning a trip back home for some good shopping! Anyone planning a trip to the Midwest would enjoy a tour of the Kohler showroom with an extra bonus of the Baker and Barbara Barry Outlet.
My love for camping in Door County, WI, grew stronger with a stop in Kohler for a design fix.
Congratulations on your sold out speaking engagement in Chicago!

We went to the KBIS Show last year in Las Vegas and saw that very same sink and purchased it for our kitchen that we updated. My husband is the cook in the family and he loves it. It is a beautiful sink!
