Goodbye January, Hello 29 Days of Love!

Posted by

They say time flies when you’re having fun, and January has definitely proved that to be true!

We’ve been working away on new presentations and client projects, getting our Mastermind 2012 series underway and hosting this year’s first Design Camp!

Oh yes, and I celebrated my birthday!!

I truly love my job and with that in mind, I’ll be sharing 29 other things I love in the next month.

Starting tomorrow we’re excited to begin our special February Month of Love blog series. Thanks to Leap Year, we’ll have one extra or “bonus” day of love this year to make it 29!

I hope you’ll be inspired by the things I love and that you’ll also share some of your favorite products and ideas by leaving a comment here.

Can’t wait to hear from you!

Design Resource: Swank Lighting

Adding colorful lamps to a room is always a bright idea in my book! I have several go-to sources when it comes to lighting, but today I want to share a few of my favorite finds from Swank Lighting.

If you saw the bedroom, I designed for the Hampton Designer Showhouse, you know how fabulously unique their rock and mineral creations are.

While perusing their site, I spotted this dreamy blue coral one. I’m pretty sure there’s a beach house somewhere out there that is dying for this lamp.

This white coral one could be great against a brightly painted wall.

And, as much as I love their mineral and rock pieces, I must say I am equally obsessed with the beautiful colored Murano glass options they have to offer, like this robin’s- egg-blue pair with gold accents.

And this vintage red-and-white striped set. Just seeing these makes me think of an uptown apartment in the city.

Oh yes, and this orange pair! Wouldn’t these be fun for bedside tables?

They have so many new and vintage options, it’s easy to get carried away! I hope these gorgeous lamps were a fun start to your Monday. Have a great week!

Sunday Showcase: Matouk

Posted by

I know Sunday is a great day for me and “mini me” (my six-year-old daughter) to lay in bed a little longer than usual. So what better day is there than Sunday to discuss one of my favorite and often times go-to sources for linens? Matouk products are present in both my home and my projects.

One of my favorite patterns is Meridian. Just by changing the tape color and adding a monogram you can have a completely different look.

Matouk also offers a great line designed by Lulu Dk. This particular image shows the Paradiso duvet and the Madison flat and fitted sheet.

As you might know I adore a nice greek key accent and the Arcadia blanket happens to feature that very motif!

They also have wonderful towels. Providence, is particularly pretty.

As you can see, there is something for everyone at Matouk. They even have their own candles and soaps.

I hope you all are enjoying this sleepy Sunday!

xoxo, Tobi

Ask Tobi: The Rothesay Lantern

Posted by

Q: Hi Tobi,

I have seen a yellow lantern you designed featured on several blogs and in magazines. I love it!! I was wondering if it came in any additional colors? Where can I purchase one of my own?

Thanks for your help!       Marty; Richmond, Virginia

A: Hi Marty,

Thanks for your question. I am so happy to know you like the Rothesay Lantern! It is truly one of my favorite designs and I enjoyed every minute of designing and collaborating to produce the final product.

I love all things Southern, so imagine how thrilled I was to have the lantern featured alongside some of our region’s best designers in the February issue of Southern Living.

This “Mood Lighting” story was a part of the monthly column “Made by Southern Hands.” It also features potter Charlie West, who’s beautiful lamps we’ve admired for some time, as well as a gorgeous turquoise chandelier designed by Ann Yancy Rogers of Ro Sham Beaux.

You asked about colors, and yes it does come in a variety of shades. In fact, you can have it custom painted in any shade to match your decor. Here’s one other option I love:

The Rothesay Lantern is available for purchase on our home goods site,  You may have seen my post last week about one of the newest design marketplaces, Dering Hall. You can also purchase the Rothesay Lantern on Dering Hall’s site

If you decide you don’t have the space for a large lantern, we also have the same style available in sconces that would be great for an entry or dining area.

Again, I want to say a special “Thank You” to Southern Living for featuring this design. I’m so honored to be a part of this and to share these designs with you all.

And thanks to you, Marty, for writing in to the blog. I hope you’ll visit our home wares site to see my latest lighting and fabric creations.

The Big 4-0!

Today, I am 40. This is the first day of the rest of my life and it only gets better from here, friends!

I am so thankful that in all my 40 years, I have followed my dreams.

I am amazed with what I have accomplished, but there’s so much more to do!

But if I do nothing else, I will start all of my days for the next 40 years with a grateful heart.

Now join me in a piece of cake and a glass of milk. Yes, milk! I’m not getting any younger so I have to keep these bones strong! 🙂

Thanks for being a part of my special day. It means more than you will ever know!

 xoxo, Tobi
