There’s nothing I love more than a fantastic outdoor picnic.  When dining outdoors, one needn’t resign to paper plates and foam cups!  Bring a little of your entertaining sophistication from the dining room to a cozy blanket under a tree. 

Today I thought I would put together a picnic for the upcoming fall season.  Entertain your friends riverside with these ideas that are simple yet elegant.

Antique wicker fishing chairs are the perfect spot to relax in style!  Look for them online and at local flea markets in your area.

An antique wicker fishing creel can also be spotted on your flea market hunts.  What a perfect place to place a bouquet of fall flowers!

“Veneer” is an enamelware pattern from Golden Rabbit.  It has the perfect rustic look for an outdoor soiree.

“Fishing Fly” is another enamelware pattern from Golden Rabbit that coordinates wonderfully with “Veneer.”

“Twigware” from Michael Aram continues the relaxed tone of this outdoor fete.

William Yeoward’s “Bess Goblets” from the Country Collection are great for a picnic.  For this setting, I’ve chosen the amber color.

Antique wooden dough bowls are great for serving food at a picnic.  They are generally of a generous size.

Quilts are an essential element for a picnic.  The coloring of the fabrics are perfect for a Fall day.  This pattern is called Old Virginia Road.
