Day 6 of Things I Love…Brooches

I have always loved this ad for Armstrong flooring with the Lucille Ball look-alike. I love the color palette in the interior, I love her fit and flare dress with the great patent belt and I love, love, love her diamond brooch!!

Though I am a modern girl in so many ways, I have a fondness for things old-fashioned. I consider myself an old soul and it shows up in my dior inspired dresses, my taste in music (Sinatra, Melody Gardot, Michael Buble), and my favorite accessories like large-brimmed hats, pearls and brooches. I recently purchased this amazing Miriam Haskell design brooch and I am waiting for the perfect place to wear it.  Miriam was a friend, muse, and designer for Coco Chanel, which gives some insight about her style and tastes.

And speaking of Chanel, here are 2 more Chanel brooches that are currently on my wish list.  This one is reminiscent of my living room color palette.

And this one speaks to my love of starbursts. Whether mirrors or brooches, I think starburst designs are interesting and chic.

Day #6 of the Things I Love is all about brooches.  They are old-fashioned and fabulous!!

Tobi the green, black and white chanel is amazing and I can see why it is on your wish list. I have not looked at your living room for awhile I will have to go and take another peek at it. These are all lovely. Thank you for the eye candy. Kathysue

I too love brooches, and often wear the beautiful ones I inherited from my grandmother. Not only are the pieces stunning, but when I wear one it brings me joy knowing how much my grandmother would be tickled to see me wearing/loving them!

Tobi, I’m sure you know Joni of Cote de Texas wrote about you today. Congrats on the cover of HB, it’s beautiful. I love vintage brooches too & have a large collection, I sometimes wear 2-3 grouped together, especially in the fall/winter.
    This is lovely!! Marsha

I recently picked up the House Beautiful magazine because you said you were in it. You are one of the most polished and well comprised interior designers of our time. I really enjoy your work.

Great Job…If you have time…you should go GOODWILL hunting….LOL

I saw this post earlier this week and while checking back in, I figured out how to wear my valentines day gift, a broach I had had my eye on at a vintage store in town. I threw on my crisp white shirt like the Lucy lookalike with some wide legged jeans. Shoes still TBD, it is a snowy day here in Denver, so sassy shoes are a challenge.
