Well the much awaited question of “Who” is over! Who is Wu!! Jason Wu that is. Jason is a 26-year-old emerging Fashion Designer who was born in Taipei, and has only been designing a collection for 3 years. Mrs. Obama stuck to her typical independent ways, and selected a relatively un-known to design the gown for the biggest night of her life.
The ivory, one-shouldered gown with a fitted bodice and flared skirt, was a departure from her typical colorful fashion choices. When interviewed on CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Mr. Wu said he did not know which dress Mrs. Obama was wearing until she walked out on the stage at the Neighborhood Ball. So he was as surprised as the rest of the country. Mr. Wu is currently preparing his collection for the upcoming Fashion Week in NYC and is hopeful that this exposure will be a draw for the show.
For the Swearing-in Ceremony, Mrs. Obama’s creamy yellow dress and matching coat were designed by Cuban-born, Isabel Toledo. The 47 year-old, Manhattan-based designer, has been designing for 25 years and at one point worked for Anne Klein.
Today was not the first time for Mrs. Obama to wear either Wu or Toledo. Both designers were selected for other occasions during the campaign and election including a Barbara Walters Interview.

I don’t think she could have looked any better. She and the girls all looked so lovely. I think it is very cool that she chose relatively obscure designers.
