In late April I had the great pleasure of giving my second lecture sponsored by New River Artisans. This talk held during the Spring High Point Market was entitled “Taking our Vitals;Energy, Aesthetics and Execution”. My presentation focused on what I think are the 5 most vitals elements for staying competitive in the design industry today whether you are a designer or a vendor and the steps to executing these 5 components. If you are interested in hearing what I had to say, you can watch my video below. It is about 50 minutes long including Leith’s introductions so you might want to pop some popcorn and settle in!
A big thank you is in order for Leith Satterwhite (above) and her son Gibson for asking me back to their beautiful showroom! I am working on another lecture in conjunction with New River for Fall 2009 Market and details will be coming soon. And look for some other very exciting collaborations with New River early in 2010.
Erika Bonnell, an interior decorator from the Washington, D.C. area with me and her mom. Erika was very interested in starting her own blog and I can’t wait to see if I inspired her to do just that!
My great friend Kathy Greeley, owner of Noland Interiors near Asheville, North Carolina and her staff came to the talk to support me and learn all about new media.
I love this beautiful photo of Kathy, me, and my mom Beverly Wells.

You always look so nice!! I love the name Gibson…
I’m going to make a cup of coffee and give it a view.
Thanks for sharing!!
Congrats
I really enjoyed your lecture. You spoke about really important things; customer service, blogging, twitter and facebook. You are such a nice person to offer help with these technologies, saying to call or email you! A big thank you.
This entry is a must see! Very informative and super valuable information.
Plus I have to say that Tobi made my day minute 38:21
Tobi, I just saw Ivan’s Tweet and watched your presentation! Loved it and I hear you are coming to Vancouver in July!! When, so I can make sure I’m at this little gathering you said Ivan is putting together!!
Very exciting, I’m totally inspired by you and your work!! (I also loved how you were saying “have I convinced you to start a blog”, I said to my sister just today, anytime someone I personally know reads a post and mentions it I perk up!! It certainly is a way to get my attention as we put so much time and effort into it!
Anyways, I’m looking forward to meeting you!!
You all are troopers to watch that whole video!!! You have no idea how much it means to hear that I inspired new ideas in you all!!
I am speaking again at High Point in October at the WITHIT Breakfast (Women in the Home furnishings Industry Toghether I think is what WITHIT stands for).
I hear it is about 350 people including designers, magazine editors, industry partners, manufacturers etc. I have big shoes to fill! Previous speakers have been Annie Selke of Pinecone Hill, Candace Olsen, and Barry Dixon and others were on a panel of designers last fall. I am excited! I hope you all are in High Point and can come. The date is Sunday October 18th.
Thanks again for your support!!
Tobi
