Travel Blog: Palm Springs

My recent trip to Palm Springs was full of excitement! I had 2 days of jam-packed design seminars, 3 nights of fabulous meals and many hours spend with great friends!!

One of the highlights was dinner at Citron, the fantastic restaurant at the Viceroy Palm Springs designed by none other than Kelly Werstler! This was my first trip to Citron, or the Viceroy Palm Springs for that matter and I was pleased to see that it was even more fun in person than the amazing photos of it Kelly’s book, Modern Glamour, one of my recommendations for every design library!

My group of stylish friends, several of whom are Palm Springs residents, gathered in the bar for fab cocktails, followed by dinner in a poolside cabana! It was picturesque!

Debbie Baxter (San Antonio) and Bill Miller (Palm Springs)

Mark Cutler (Los Angeles) and Sarh Eilers (Houston)

Tammy Bozorgnia Cline (Seattle), Me and Fernando Diaz (Los Angeles)

Another high point of the week was a couple of visits to the Riveria Hotel.  Not yet on my radar screen before last month, the Riveria is a wonderful boutique hotel where I would highly consider staying for my next trip! I had the pleasure of drinks in the bar one evening and also a pool-side lunch with friends during a conference break.  Both were great experiences and the food was really top notch! I recommend the fish tacos but the french fries were great too!

There are also gorgeous lounge areas with firepits around the pool that I wish I’d had time to relax in!

Here are my friends and I lunching at the Riveria!

Bill, Me, Keith Headley (Memphis and New York) and Fernando.

Benjamin Huntington and Shari Markbreiter (New York), Corinne Brown ( Mammoth Lakes, California) and Debbie.

For those of you visiting Palm Springs soon, check out these rooms at the Riveria! Judging by the rest of the property, I would think they would be a great choice for a stay! And the certain earn a lot of style points with me!

Also a nice surprise was dinner at Copley’s, the former Clark Gable Estate and a favorite of my friends who reside in Palm Springs, Bill Miller and Matt Reader from William Miller Design! Everything on the menu was delicious and I really had a hard time deciding what to order! A little extra bonus was seeing T.R. Knight from Grey’s Anatomy dining there, and the Chef, Andrew Copley, came out to welcome us to the city as friends of Bill Miller, one of his favorite customers! So all around a GREAT experience at Copley’s! I would definetely go back!

Here we are having a great time at Copley’s!

My hubby, Carter, Matt Reader of William Miller Design (Palm Springs) and Corinne.

Palm Springs has been on my must visit list for a while and I have to say it was worth the wait!

  1. Looks like you had a great trip! LOVE both the Viceroy and Riviera, will definitly have to put them on my list of places to visit next time I visit Cali. Viceroy was already on the list, but Riviera is new to me. Great post! :) Have you had a chance to look at what we talked about?

  2. Hi Tobi,

I am so glad that you shared your trip with us. I just travelled last weekend as well (check out my Sonoma post). I keep a folder of city reviews with restaurant and shopping recommendations and I am going to add this blog post to my file now! I’ve never been to Palm Springs, but it’s on my list, too, of places I want to visit this year, thanks to your post! Looks like you had fun and your husband is a cutie!
