Tobi’s Tips for Buying and Hanging Art with AY Magazine
I am so excited about my first column for my partnership with AY Magazine. And what better topic to write about for their annual art issue than Buying and Hanging Art. As most of you already know, I own a fine art gallery, Tobi Fairley Gallery, so the topic of building an art collection is not a new idea for me. I love assiting my clients in beginning or adding to their art collection.
There are several rules of thumb that I share with clients when they are making investments in original and limited edition pieces. So before we get started here, be sure to make your way over to the AY Website where you’ll find my column and the ”Tobi’s Tips” blog. Here you can read about my do’s and don’ts for selecting and displaying artwork in your home.
When it comes to Art collecting and hanging there are about a million “ways to skin a cat” as they say. Works of art are as varied as the interiors in which they hang and there is really no right or wrong answer in what to collect. I always say at the end of the day buy what you love and hang it where you can enjoy it.

You really do have a talent with art, love how you incorporate it it your design. The Bunny Williams room is probably not my favorite, but those botanicals are to die for! They totally pull the room together. It would have been nothing without them.

Definately go big or go home…as they say. I love large canvases….I also like a mix of fine art photography, sizes, and frames. That large blue canvas in David Kleinberg’s room is amazing!!
