Jan Showers Glamorous Rooms

I am excited to start week two of my Designer Book Giveaway Series with the glamorous Jan Showers. Jan’s work is the definition of Glamour and her new book with the perfect title, Glamorous Rooms, has been long awaited by many fans of Jan and her work, myself included.

With Jan hailing from my neighboring state of Texas, I have had the pleasure of seeing her work and her furniture collection for several years now. And it seems like Jan’s style is as popular as ever with the national shelter mags. I love how her great recent press is helping everyone to see more of what I have been in love with for a long time, the simplicity of a Jan Showers room.

When you pick up a copy of Jan’s new book, Glamorous Rooms, her amazing style is immediately apparent in every single detail, including the front and back cover. Under the glossy and gorgeous book jacket you will find a sassy little surprise. The book cover is actually animal print. And it is this sort of attention to even the tiniest parts of Jan’s work that make her the successful professional designer that she is.

I recently had dinner with Jan and she was the essence of style and grace, but with a down-to-earth personality that is a big as the state she lives in. I was so thrilled to find that Jan doesn’t take herself too seriously, she loves her work, and she is happy to give advice to designers like me that are still learning some of the ropes of the fast-paced design profession. But it was her style and fashion sense that really stuck with me after our meeting. I find it so fitting that the foreword in her book is written by none other than fashion designer extraordinaire, Michael Kors.

Being such a huge fan of Jan’s work, I always find it exciting when I get to infuse some of her product designs into my clients’ homes. I will be talking more about the graceful lines of her peices and her gorgeous Venetian glass lighting in tomorrow’s post, but I had to share a photo or two with you today just to leave you salivating for more. Wouldn’t you agree that this turquoise glass Elizabeth Chandelier is about the prettiest thing you have ever seen?

I am excited beyond words that Jan Showers is a part of my Designer Book Series. It was actually her idea to donate a copy of her book to my blog that started this whole series. I cannot wait for one of my lucky readers to be the proud new owner of Jan’s Glamorous Rooms.

So if you want to enter to win a copy of Glamorous Rooms for your coffee table, send an email to me at tobifairley@gmail.com with “Jan Showers Book Giveaway” in the subject line.  Only one entry per person please. And stay tuned for a week-long look at Jan, her work, her product line and more.

Good luck!
