I am a wine lover. Unlike many people, I started my relationship with Vino by drinking reds, jumped right in with the heavy stuff. Cabernets and Merlots were my first loves and I still have a soft spot in my palette for them. But it seems as if I have worked my way down through the light reds and onto the whites.

I bought into the Pinot Noir craze a few years ago and I am still hanging on to my affinity towards this light red wine. Two of my favorites…Paul Hobbs Pinot from the Russian River Valley and the elusive Kosta Browne from the Sonoma Coast.

I also started a fling with Sauvignon Blancs and similar whites a while back. I was never a white wine drinker before because the oaky California Chardonnays that were so hot in the 90′s were just not my thing. But then I found Ferrari Carano’s Fume Blanc and everything changed. Now I have a hard time ordering red over white if a great Fume or Sauvignon Blanc is on the list.

My favorite Sauvignon Blancs come from the Marlborough region of New Zealand and one of my very favorites is Kim Crawford. There is nothing more light and zesty than a good Marlborough Sauv Blanc especially for a hot summer afternoon.
